Characteristics of Capricorn in the 2nd House

Capricorn is a sign that needs to prove itself through clear and visible accomplishment. It is self-disciplined, responsible, and determined. But, because we are focused on the 2nd house in this article, we need to keep Capricorn in context. The 2nd house isn’t describing your ego or your outward personality. The 2nd house is considered the House of Money.

This is largely oversimplified, however. The 2nd house does involve the terrain in life that revolves around personal property and how money is made and spent, but there is actually much more to it. One’s sense of self-worth is also laid out in this house. The 2nd house offers clues about how a person may or may not tie their sense of worth up with how much money they have, and in what ways they may do this.

Capricorn is a sign that came ready to tackle challenges in life. They have an incredible work ethic and are ambitious, patient, and mature. However, if you have a Sagittarius ascendant and, more than likely, your sun in a sign other than Capricorn, being serious and cautious may seem like the opposite of how the people in your life might describe you.

The Significance of Saturn and Other Planets

Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn. With Capricorn in your 2nd house, the position of Saturn is going to leave its imprint on how Capricorn is expressed through how you feel about your finances and sense of self-worth. Find Saturn in your chart and what sign the planet is inhabiting. Whatever this sign is will inject more complexity and definition into your 2nd house.

For instance, if Saturn is in Aries, this may temper some of your responsible and conservative feelings toward money. You may be a bit more willing to take risks with your money or spend impulsively from time to time. However, it also may heighten your ambition.

Saturn in Virgo? This may increase your tendency for overworking yourself and you may be even more concerned with planning and organizing your finances. You may be even more drawn toward purchases that have a solely practical purpose and that will stand up to the test of time.

Planets you find in your 2nd house will also influence your experience of the 2nd house. If Venus is in your 2nd house, for example, you may find that some luxury or comfort items have snuck into your shopping cart from time to time. You may not be as concerned with simple practicality.

Pluto your 2nd house? There is a chance that you will experience a more tumultuous financial life and at one time or another experienced feeling very poor and other times quite well off. Pluto placed in your 2nd may increase your fear of financial insecurity. But, it may also be an area of your life where you are capable of incredible personal growth.

Astrological birth charts, and life for that matter, are both so much more complex and with so many nuances that it is impossible to name all of the possibilities in one article, and a full astrological reading would uncover so many more accurate details.

Your Sun and Moon signs, along with your Capricorn or Sagittarius Ascendant, will be more significant in building the foundation for your personality and ego. But, having Capricorn in your 2nd house will nonetheless have a definite effect on your view of your self-worth and how you view your bank account and belongings.
