How to Decode Your Dreams Using Astrology & Your Sun or Moon Sign

Today’s article is brought to us by our friends at Dreams & Myths, and you can read more about dream symbols in their article all about them here.

Dreams are nothing but vivid pictures, scenes, or emotions that occur during sleep. These images can be involuntary, illogical, and irrelevant. Some may also seem rational. Dreams induce emotions like happiness, sadness, or fear.

Even blind people dream related to smell, taste, or sound. There are multiple science and theories behind dreams. For centuries people believed dreams were a way to connect earthly life with God usually based on some common dream symbols they saw.

After the advancement of technology, it was believed that dreams don’t really have any meaning. But some dream experts and psychologists attach meaning to dreams. They suggest multiple reasons for having a dream, like;

Problem-solving: Getting rid of troubling thoughts

Memory building: Tries to retain memories or incidents

Emotion processing: Manage and engage in different emotions

Instant replay: Replay of recent events

Background activity: Happening in the background with no meaning or purpose

A dream may last from 10 seconds to 45 minutes.

What is the Science Behind Astrology?

Astrology is ancient pseudoscience being followed for thousands of years. And astrologers study how cosmic bodies, especially stars and planets influence human behavior and their lives on earth.

Looking at the placement of the Sun, stars, Moon, and planets during the birth of a person can help to determine the kind of life a person would be leading.

Astrology determines the sign and thus learns about family, finances, career, and overall effect on the life of a person. Placements of these cosmic bodies also help in predicting the future.

In astrology, there are 12 zodiac signs which correspond to the star constellation that the sun passes through; Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.

The zodiac sign can elaborate on a person’s personality trait. Astrology also divides the zodiac into houses. Each house is ruled by different signs. The zodiac begins from the first house and goes counterclockwise. Each house represents a set of traits from self and branching out to society.

How to Decode Dreams Using Astrology?

Some astrologers and dream experts depend on the transit of planets to understand dreams or nightmares.

Each planet has its own property. As the planet orbits around the Sun, it gets aligned to one of the 12 zodiac signs for a varied period of time. It then shifts to the next sign. Depending on the planet of your birth sign it can affect your dreams.

Signs can also be divided into four categories:

Fire signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn

Air signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces

Apart from planets, a person’s birth chart is important. This indicates the placement of stars at the time of birth. If the dreams don’t co-relate with Sun signs, there are chances of the Moon sign or planetary sign having more effect on them

The Moon plays an important role in both astrology and dreams. Moon phases throughout the month into different signs and different houses. This highlights different aspects of life. The houses differ in different signs. If the Moon is in the same sign as your birth sign, there is a strong lunar connection. This leads to more vivid dreams.

You must pay extra attention to any dreams during the new moon as it indicates a new start. Deep dive into these dreams to understand what you want to expand or give birth to.

Before moving to interpret dreams, let’s understand what each house indicates. The below table shows what dreams you might get depending on which house the Moon is in

First House – Self:  It is related to you. You are the center of the dream. All firsts or fresh starts.

Second House – Possessions:  Focus is on material possession or finances.

Third House – Communication: Communication issue or how to communicate. Also covers the neighborhood.

Fourth House – Home:  Family members in a scene on a mind

Fifth House – Creativity & Romance:  Crush or romantic partner or a project

Sixth House – Health & Service: Anxiety related to health and urge to help others

Seventh House – Relationships: Seeking emotional closure

Eighth House – Sex & Transformation: Sexual intimacy or shape transformation

Ninth House – Exploration: Adventure to a new place and escape from real life

Tenth House – Career: Office fear

Eleventh House – Humanity: Political and social causes on your mind

Twelfth House – Spirituality: Powerful ones revealing truths about self

Important Steps to Decode Your Dreams

So, now that you have got the basics of astrology and the science behind dreams, let’s understand how to decode dreams.

Method 1: On the basis of the Moon Sign

  1. Know your Moon sign:
  1. Know the sign and house the Moon was in when you had the dream
  1. Each sign is in its first house, followed by other signs in anti-clockwise:

Consider Aries;

First House: Aries

Second House: Taurus

Third House: Gemini

Fourth House: Cancer

Fifth House: Leo

Sixth House: Virgo

Seventh House: Libra

Eighth House: Scorpio

Ninth House: Sagittarius

Tenth House: Capricorn

Eleventh House: Aquarius

Twelfth House: Pisces

For Taurus, the first house is Taurus, the second is Gemini, and so on. The twelfth will be Aries. This is how the house change for each sign

  1. Suppose the moon is in Aries, and your moon sign is Virgo. Look out for the chart with first house Aries. Find Virgo. As per the above chart, it is the sixth house, which means the Aries Moon is in the sixth house.  So, your dreams related to health or public service are justified.
  2. Once this technique is clear, keep a track of your dreams which will now make more sense to you

Method 2: On the basis of the Sun sign

  1. You can also make a note of the planet in your sun sign and understand the influence of the planet on your dreams. Here is how you could achieve that.
  1. Check your sun sign
  1. Find below the detailed properties of each planet
PLANETTRAITSDURATION OF SIGN CHANGE
SunCore personality of selfevery month
MoonFeelings, emotions, moodevery 2-3 days
Mercury Communication, expression, mindevery 3-4 weeks
VenusLove, attraction, lifeevery 4-5 weeks
MarsDrive, energy, motivationevery 6-7 weeks
JupiterPositivity, good vibes, growthevery 12-13 months
Saturn Restraints, discipline, fear, challengesevery 2-3 years
UranusChanges, surprises, chaosevery 7 years
NeptuneDreams, wishes, mysteries, healingevery 10-12 years
PlutoPower, control, transformationevery 12-15 years (can vary)
  1. Further, a Fire sign seeing a stove or oven or any heat giving warmth is good news, but anything like wildfire or burns means you need to pay attention to the fiery side
  2. Earth sign seeing nature or flowers or pottery means good but disturbing scenes like rocks or walls mean a negative impact
  3. An air sign seeing a pleasant wind or breeze is good but a gush of air or chatter might be an unpleasant indicator
  4. Water sign seeing a pool or having a drink is good, but extreme water like a tsunami or drowning or leakage is bad news

Inner/ Personal planets like the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, and Venus orbit around faster hence affecting the day-to-day life of an individual. Each person’s combination is highly unique

Social planets like Jupiter and Saturn have a slower orbit hence affecting a large number of people with different walks of life.

Outer planets like Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto have a slow orbit. People of similar age will have the same sign combination. It affects the generation level.

Pluto may have been time and again discarded as a planet by astronomers but for astrology, it is a real planet. Its impact is still taken into consideration

Journaling whatever you remember about your dreams is the first step to interpretation.

But it all boils down to interpretation. Dreams or astrology both are not accurate but are a garbled way to predict the current mindset or future. Dream experts or astrologers consider the celestial bodies to make a prediction model.
